A quick serious post

Asian Junkie has a very telling post up regarding the coverage of the rape allegations against Yoochun.

Note that:

  1. The Korean media is (once again) relying on netizen speculation as though that were some kind of reliable source material.
  2. This they did in spite of the fact (once again) that there are readily-available media photographs and a media interview that prove the speculation wrong.
  3. The English-language K-Pop press parrots the misinformation, slathering on another layer of bullshit in the process.

This is the level of journalistic effort and care that is put into a story about a guy accused of being a serial rapist, the kind of story that without a doubt will have a serious impact on everyone concerned.

The complete and total irresponsibility here is just mind-boggling to me.
